Mumma’s little helper

Bubba and I went to the market yesterday. Because we were only dropping in for bananas, apples, spinach and a couple of other things, I didn’t put Bubba in the baby carrier or the pram, just carried her into the store on my hip.

That is a mistake with a toddler.

Toddlers don’t like to be held – not when there’s a whole market of things to discover!

In the fruit and vegetable section this was okay. I carried the basket, held Bubba’s hand and each time I picked up an item I put the basket down on the ground, handed the item to Bubba and she put it in the basket. Teamwork!

Then we got to the refrigerated section, and Bubba decided it was time for her to do the shopping. Before I knew it, we had yoghurt with pureed fruit through it, and organic milk in our basket. Totally coincidentally, the same milk we usually buy, but she’d selected a low fat variety. Low fat isn’t the right thing for Bubba so I swapped it out while she was busy a little further along.

Oh, and I put the yoghurt back too.

A couple of aisles of Italian delicacies later and we were at the check out. As the girl was scanning our items, she scanned through some pasta shells.

Gluten free. No, my child is not a genius – this was a pure fluke and I know it. Bubba had also selected for us some honey tofu. Not something I’ve tried before, but we’ll definitely be eating it this week.

So as to not disrupt our first real expedition of doing the shopping together, I didn’t take any photos in the store. I couldn’t resist this one though – when we got home I unloaded all of our bags to the hallway just inside our front door. I carried most of them to the kitchen, and on my return journey for the rest of the bags, this is what I found in the hallway.

This was such a sweet story. In no time at all you’ll be able to give Bubba a list and she can do the grocery shopping while you put your feet up! :)
