We interrupt regular programming …

Today’s post, revealing Bubba and my extra special secret about Jim Henson’s Pajanimals, has become tomorrow’s post, because a lot has happened in the past couple of days. And I’m an over-sharer, so I need to share!

On a good day I have a few hundred visitors to my blog. Readership has been a little slow in the past couple of weeks, but that’s the Northern Hemmesphere summer slump for you, a lot of my favourite bloggers have commented on it.

So, imagine my surprise on Monday when I checked my site stats in the afternoon, only to watch them grow before my eyes. And keep growing. And growing (insert squeals of delight). And growing. Until I had to stop watching and go to sleep. In truth, I probably also had to stop jamming my Facebook and Twitter feeds with numbers too. I’m not usually a numbers girl at all, but these numbers had me hooked!

When I woke up on Tuesday morning (or rather - when I stumbled out of bed for the final time having been up with Bubba pretty much solidly from midnight until 5:30am – germs hadn’t had their eviction notice at that point), I’d had a little over 2,500 visitors. In. One. Day. Holy freaking number crunching Batman!

You can imagine my utter astonishment and sheer delight this morning, when I woke up to find that yesterday our little blog had over 3,200 visitors? Shut. The. Door. (Insert jumping up and down on the bed high fiving myself, Bubba, Bella and Beary … and just generally wearing a ridiculous Cheshire Cat grin!)

mumma: not usually a cat person!

Even if these numbers are an anomaly, I want to say an enormous thank you to all of the new visitors to bumpyroadtobubba. I’d love to know how you happened upon our story, so feel free to comment below.

Thank you for reading one, two, three - or all of the posts in our blog (as one reader did, leaving comment at 11:40pm having just read our whole story - wow, that’s commitment)! If you’re new to us, and are not sure where to start, this is where you need to go. And thank you to those readers who have been with us from the get go. Family, friends and other bloggers whose daily lives and stories we share.

I have allowed myself this morning a little time to wonder. A little what if daydream that asks what if this is the point in time - after 17 months of blogging - that my little blog is about to (in the words of one of my friends) take wings and fly? What if one of my dreams comes true and this is the turning point? What if doing something creative instead of sitting in a corporate office all day is about to become my reality?

A girl can dream. And should. Big dreams.

Big, enormous, best-selling, Hollywood movie box office record smashing dreams.

Hi! I’ve come across your blog from a post from another reader on the website mamamia.com She posted a link about your blog.
I’m a single mum of two, my boy Will is 3yrs and my big girl Grace is 8yrs. Ive been a single mum for 18mths now.
Ive really enjoyed reading the few posts I have so far….you have a lovely easy writing style, not to mention you’ve made me laugh many times! Im a little confused though…Poppy was born in Jan 2011 but your blog doesn’t run like that chronologically? Im confused!
Anyway, much love to you and your lovely little family.

    • Thanks for visiting Allison! I’m glad to have put a smile on your face a couple of times. Being a single mumma is hard enough when you decide to go it alone from the beginning, so I take my hat off to you supermummas who are also dealing with the end of a relationship as well as keeping two small people happy and moving forward! I started my blog when Bubba was 1 month old, but I had to go back and fill in the story a little and fit a lot into those first few posts about my decision – and how it came about – before I started on my parenting part of the journey (in blog form at least). I hope you keep visiting and sharing our story, and wish you, Grace (Bubba’s middle name!) and Will all the very best. x

Oh and the original post was just for a recommendation of interesting parenting blogs to read and your blog was mentioned. It was this afternoon- guess that doesn’t really explain all your other traffic from earlier this week though does it?!
