Lorian, Sofie, Lulu, Muffin, Constance Kitty, Noel, Nine and Stella (hope I haven’t forgotten anyone?) share their daily antics with us, and Lorian is a strong mumma who just sent her Peanut off to college. I can’t imagine ever being brave enough to let Bubba go out into the big wide world alone - lucky I have a while to get used to the idea!
While it is always nice to be nominated, it is extra nice to be nominated by a blog you really love to read! We’re super honoured to be one of the very few on your list who aren’t solely ani-pal focussed, although Bella and Beary assure me that their presence is strong enough to put us into the ani-pal category! Bubba begs to differ. So a right back at you and thank you LOTS from all of us.
Not ones to skirt the rules (well, not all the time anyway):
1. We’ve thanked those who nominated us and 2. linked to their blog, so now for 3. Why do I blog and what started me on this blogging journey?
I’ve always loved to write and kept a journal. While I was researching becoming a single mother by choice, I found lots of statistics and dry facts about the process. What I couldn’t find was a true personal account of the experience. So I did what I always do and kept a journal. After a while I thought to myself: if I was looking for a personal account, surely there must be other mummas-to-be out there who would like the same? So I swallowed every ounce of privacy I had once held dear and started committing my story to cyberspace for anyone to read.
Naturally once Bubba arrived my blog became more about our daily life: a warts and all account of what it’s like to be single by chance and a mumma by choice. As those of you who are regular readers will know, being a mumma blows me away every single day. Even the days that are bumpy.
Our life story wouldn’t be complete without a heavy dose of my beloved rescue mutts Bella and Beary, and the occasional recipe from this recent vegetarian, long-term foodie. Oh and quite often I mention Pinot. I don’t have a problem with it. But I do like it. A lot.
So, if my story inspires one person who is contemplating parenthood alone, or someone to adopt a rescue mutt instead of buying from a pet store, then I’m happy to say I’ve achieved what I set out to do. Oh, and I absolutely love writing and having a creative outlet. I find it cathartic. That is a nice added bonus!
4. Post the Award - done and 5. Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award.
This might be where it gets tricky. Tricky because 10 is not a very big number. And tricky because my most addictive blogs seem to have been nominated, but I could not list my most addictive blogs without including them in my list. Hopefully you’ll also find some new wonderful blogs to become addicted to.
Bassa’s Blog (and even though we know the Tall Person’s Georgia About blog is doing absolutely amazing things, we like to remember where it all started)
Bongo (Bubba sends extra special little girl loves with this nomination Bongo)
Collies of the Meadow (we just love the joy the Collies bring – even when they’re plotting a hammock take over - and think it’s wonderful that Chuck remembers beloved Collies past)
Cupcake Speaks (Cupcake kind of feels like a long lost fuzzy cousin to us)
For The Love of My Dogs (there should be more angels like D and her crew – if I were a foster pup, that’s the home I’d like to go to – check out their latest foster buddy Enzo!)
Misty Shores Chesapeakes (to think I didn’t know about Chessies until I met the four gorgeous Misty Shores – and their cats – and 2 Brown Dawgs gangs!)
2 Brown Dawgs (more gorgeous Chessies: Thunder, Storm, Freighter – and let’s not forget Nestle the cat – we still think you guys should rent some blogger advertising space on your amazing furry friend transporter!)
(Mis)Adventures of Sage (Sage is a beautiful puppy who looks like she could be a mix between our Bella and Beary - her mumma Ann takes fabulous photos of Sage making the most of life; she also has a Bubba named Poppy in her family so that makes her extra special)
Rumpy Dog (Jen, DeDe, June Buggie and Little Girl – and I feel like I’m missing someone!) … after their big move they still keep blogging as much as they used to – and we’re so glad. Rumpy’s posts are a mixture of fun, fur and important information!)
WhatIMeant2Say (laughs, laughs, laughs – the Firepants family antics always make me smile … and feel a little more normal. Oh, and check out their PitaPata ticker on the left hand side of the page – makes me giggle)
Grapes, Gripes & Gratitude (A relative newcomer to my list of favourite blogs – I so wish we lived closer so we could have a chat over a wine – or three!)
Lexie & Mica – the gorgeous “velcro” dogs – aka Newfies – at Tylersat99, who I thought I followed, but when I went to link them I didn’t – mistake now rectified!
Paws to Talk – Bella and DiDi offer wise words about life, the universe and any other random question you may have. Maybe they can help me with my dating life (or lack thereof)?
Okay, so I can’t count to 10, just don’t tell Bubba! I’m sure there are others who – once I click on Publish – will spring to mind.
No pressure on any of you to do anything other than happily receive our nomination. I just wanted you, and people who read our blog, to know how much I enjoy sharing your worlds (as far away from us as some of you may be)!
