Best. Compliment. Ever.

Last night was a gloomy old Sydney night. Dark grey clouds, torrential rain, horrendous traffic.

Of course, it was the night I’d planned my birthday catch up at an amazing bar at the end of an old wharf – home to the Sydney Theatre Company – called {funnily enough} The Bar at The End of The Wharf. The perfect kind of place for a typical Sydney summer evening. Watching the world go by over our beautiful harbour as the sun set. The kind of space that wouldn’t be out of place jutting out into the Hudson somewhere in Chelsea, NYC.

Other than making us all late, and spending twice what we should have on cabs getting there due to aforementioned traffic, the weather did little to dampen our spirits.

Cocktails {and cute bar tenders!}, snacks, laughter and love in abundance. A few friends missing, but the perfect amount of loved ones there to feel like I spent {almost} enough time with each of them.

Even though I am now officially older than Elvis – I’ll let you do the math and then after this post we are never {ever ever} discussing my age again – there are times when your worlds collide and friends you’ve known for years but haven’t ever met each other suddenly find themselves thrown together. And it couldn’t have been easier.

One of my missing friends Emma {missing only because she lives in a state which is a 4 hour flight away – although we checked her in on Facebook and she commented on our photos so she was there in spirit} a few years ago introduced me to a couple of lovely boys, Marky B and Dave. They are in the first photo with me below.

As I was looking through people’s comments on our photos last night, I saw that Marky B had left this message:

Love your friends and family! They are each a reflection of you.
Gorgeous, easy to talk to, and funny! Happy birthday! X

Best. Compliment. Ever. Thank you lovely.

Happy birthday to me. I have the best gift any girl could ask for. And it’s obvious to everyone!

Now I’m off to pick Bubba up from grandma’s, where she’s been having a lovely time.
