As red as her watermelon shorts. Ouch.

I should have known on Saturday after ballet when Bubba fell asleep within five minutes of being in the car that something wasn’t right. While she’s always a cuddly Love Bug, she was extra cuddly and running a slight fever.

Late afternoon, despite giving her medicine to help, she was still running a fever and she was lethargic {not a natural toddler state!}. She’s been having a lot of trouble with her two year old molar teeth. They which keep threatening to break the surface of her gum but have yet to show themselves. Instead they just give her red cheeks, rubs the base of her ear and has now got scaly skin on one of her hands from constantly gnawing on them because of the pain. Poor love. Because of all this, I blamed her teeth.

Sunday morning she woke – or rather I woke her – after she’d been asleep for 13 hours. She was burning up. Our doctor’s surgery isn’t open Sundays but a lovely doctor I used to see in my single girl days when I lived in the inner city was. The only downside to her surgery is that there was a three hour wait. So we put our names on the list and went to have breakfast with Bubba’s lovely uncles, my cousin and his boyfriend.

You know there’s something drastically wrong when Little Miss I Need Coffee actually says no to her ‘coffee’ {a babycino: which is basically milk froth with a sprinkle of chocolate powder on top}. Things got even more real when we went to the playground beside the cafe and she was only really interested in the swing. And at first only on mumma’s lap. Cuggle mumma.

I love this photo taken by uncle Christopher. Not only because it shows how snuggly she was, but also because it’s so rare I get a photo of her and I doing every day things that is not a selfie taken by me!

On our way to the doctor I asked Love Bug how she was feeling and she said ear very sore mumma. By the time we were finally seen by the doctor, she took one look in Bubba’s ears and said they were as red as her watermelon shorts. Ouch.

Home with antibiotics and a quiet day on the couch. Even knowing she’s safe and fine and hopefully the medicine will kick in soon and help her fight her ear infection, it’s hard when you know your Bubba is sick to do anything other than spend half the night checking on her.

She’s still warm and clingy this morning. While I wish the warm part would subside, I’m okay with the clingy part!

It is so hard when they are sick. Great that you were able to get in to the dr and get medicine quick. Extra hugs are very important at times like these. Hope she is twirling on her toes soon.

  3. That’s not fun! I wanted it to be ballet exhaustion! Prayers for a speedy recovery. xoxo
