I can see clearly now

Bubba, you are obsessed with transparent items right now.

It started with the screen on your bath, then my shower, then graduated to the balcony sliding door. You think it’s absolutely hilarious that you can kiss me from behind the screen or door – and only feel the cool glass pressed up against your face, then poke your head around and kiss me for real, my skin much softer to your touch.

It makes us both very happy.

After your bath tonight, you were in your pyjamas, reading and playing row row row your boat on my bed. You were just generally being cute. Something on my nightstand caught your eye – my manuscript.

Because you think you are the strongest bubba in the world right now [aside: you push furniture around, today tried to lift up your walker, and you also tried your hand at moving some garden furniture this afternoon!] you leaned over with one hand to pick up the manuscript.

A little mumma help and that one-handed lift saw the manuscript land smack in the middle of my bed. You tentatively lifted the cover page. Your face told me that you thought this may have been an awesome discovery you were about to make. Confirmed the moment you slipped your other arm under the cover and realised you could SEE THROUGH IT!

Wow! It’s not just doors you can see through! You leaned down really close to the manuscript and pressed your hand up to your face – from the underside of the cover. Then you laughed and looked at me. I put my hand under it and you pressed your hand against mine from the other side.

I told you it was a story about you and you leaned in really close this time – and kissed it! I’ll take that as your seal of approval.

Isn’t it amazing how something that looks like nothing can bring you so much joy?

I hope the simple things in life always make you smile.
