A word nerd

I love words. I love books and I love quotes – all kinds of quotes. Silly quotes, fun quotes, quotes that pick you up when you’re a little flat, quotes that make you think.

Quotes by famous people. Quotes by a boy I once worked with’s grandma!

Quotes that inspire courageousness.

What is a quote really? Just a bunch of words you’ve heard uttered or read. But those words resonate with you – for whatever reason.

I love this quote because I love dogs and I love to read:

Outside a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside a dog, it’s too dark to read. (unknown)

I love this quote because it’s made up of ten two letter words yet means so much:

If it is to be, it is up to me! (unknown)

One of my favourite sources of quotes is Theodore Roosevelt – so many quotes, so little time!

I hope to pass my love of words and reading to bubba. I’ve been reading to her since I was five months pregnant so we’re off to a good start.

Our favoutite books so far are Guess How Much I Love You, Oh the Places You’ll Go and That’s the Way I Love You – I’ve read them so many times that I know them by heart!

I’m so looking forward to the day bubba starts reading along with me – and the day she realises I’ve missed a word.

Some of my best childhood memories are of being read to, sharing reading a book with my mum, or reading to my sister. I come from a family of book worms.

I’m a word nerd. And I’m okay with that!

  1. When my son was young he loved having me read to him. He struggled with learning to read himself so I made him read to me before I’d read to him. He so wanted me to read that he was willing to do his share first, and his reading improved in no time.

To read is to go to places you may never go and listen to people you may never know and learn from words that paint vivid pictures in your mind.

Have you read her ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’? I LOVED that book as a child. I still (mostly) know it by heart. Also ‘Peepo’ was a favourite. Both by Janet and Allen Ahlberg. (Might have spelled their names incorrectly, but the books are on Amazon.)

    1. Hey, it’s really lovely to have another reader share our journey with us. Some days are tough, but all of them are amazing in their own way. Thanks for stopping by, and especially thanks for taking the time to write 🙂
