Bubba was in the baby bjorn, happily sitting snuggled in facing me. She was busily gnawing on a teething rusk when she suddenly stopped and looked up at me.

Hi Bubba.

She looked at the rusk in her hand then looked up at me again. She’d had an idea. Tentatively she brought the rusk towards my mouth and rested it against my lips.

For me? Yum yum!

Organic banana rusk is not my usual snack of choice, but I wasn’t going to miss this – it was either a one-off or it was going to be the first time she consciously shares.

She gave me one of her new found shy smiles then spent the next minute or so happily chewing. Then a beaming smile appeared – as if she’d suddenly remembered what happened a moment before – and she again offered to share her snack with me.

Not so tentative this time, she pushed the rusk straight into my mouth then giggled.

Oh bubba, you are gorgeous and you make me smile!

I distinctly remember a similar moment with my daughter. Sweet and irreplacable.

  2. This is so cute. When my son was little and I would be feeding him he’d grab the spoon and try to feed me.
