Sometimes it’s scary being a mumma

When I picked bubba up from daycare yesterday she was hot. Really hot. A temperature above 39 degrees, but not quite 40 degrees. Sure it was hot in Sydney yesterday, but not at daycare. And not in the air-conditioned comfort of her bedroom at home.

It was also the day she turned 10 months, so after putting her under the cool air conditioner, giving her something to try to bring her temperature down, and handing over a bottle of cool water (which – for the first time ever – she drank all of), I just had to take her 10 month photos to start her 10 month album.

Mumma, I’d really like to partake in this photo opportunity, but my temperature is ridiculous and I’m just not feeling flash. Poor bubba.

Her temperature hovered between 39 and 40 for the next 12 hours. No matter what I did, it just didn’t seem to want to go below 39.

Finally – at 4am – it dipped to 37, cool enough that we could both have a little sleep.

Sometimes it’s scary being a mumma.

It’s really horrible when our little ones get sick. Glad she’s doing better. Praying that she’s completely back to normal health by now.

Poor Poppy Grace and poor you! I am relieved that she is feeling better.
