A day of unpacking ahead. We managed about half of the unpacking yesterday. Mumma is shattered, so today’s post will be a short one!
Thank heavens for my mum – she has been ah-mazing. Without her I probably would have packed myself in a box and stayed there.
Last night I barely slept a wink, despite being utterly exhaust-piped. Bubba, who normally settles really well, also took a long time to get to sleep and there were lots of tears and cuddles.
Beary was awake most if the night with me. Bella eventually slept in the floor in the hallway between my room and Bubba’s.
A quick trip to the hardware will sort out our need for fans to cool us down. A few more nights and we’ll be used to the night sounds of our new home and neighbourhood.
But sleeping in a different room to Bubba? I don’t like it. At all. And it’s going to take a LOT if getting used to!
I remember when the family forced me to put Peanut in her own room. I would have kept her next to me in the big bedroom until she was ready to go out on her own, but everyone said she had to learn how to be in her own room, in her own bed. The first few nights were really hard. First night I think she cried for an hour, second, maybe 40 minutes, etc etc, until, finally, she learned that it was safe and ok to go to sleep by herself. I still don’t know if I agree that it had to be done. Best of luck, and if you want her with you, then I say, go with your mummy sense. – DogDaz
Thanks – it’s nice to hear your experience. So many people were surprised I still have her in my room at 13 months, but I waited such a long time for her that I don’t like to be away from her. There’s loads of time for separation in years to come! x
Congrats on your move and new place! YAY! Yeah, it take a while to get used to the new sounds and all that. 🙂 Ah, moving the children off to their own room! It is hard, even for dads to do that (although most wont admit it! LOL). But, in time you will be glad to have your alone time and privacy. 🙂 One thing that helped my wife was monitors so we could hear them in their room at night. 🙂 You may want to try it…. just a suggestion from a friend who knows how you feel. 🙂
God Bless You!

Thanks – we’re getting there re settling in. Beary is not coping at all though 😦 I’ve got monitors – I just keep checking and double checking them. I will get used to it eventually. Hope you’re all well and Trevor is happy and on the improve.
Congratulations on your new home! Before you know it everyone will be sleeping soundly having sweet dreams 🙂
Making changes always is an adjustment. I hope all of you are able to adjust quickly.
Welcome to your new home. I am sure things will settle down soon and it will feel like home. Try to get some rest! x
I’m so glad you’ve all gotten moved and are settling in. Moves are hard–lots of adjustments to make, both internally and externally.
