Who is that?

Who is that little person walking around my house? Where has my Bubba gone?

I’m bursting with pride that a few days ago Bubba simply decided that walking was her new way of getting around – and crawling is being phased out.

Bursting with pride. And biting back tears.

Where is my little baby? Why must these changes happen so incredibly quickly and in multiples?

I am so happy that she is developing and growing into her divine little personality.

I’m proud hat she is a good sharer, is caring and loving and happy to show her affection to those she loves.

I think it’s wonderful that she is happy to feed herself (albeit without the aid of spoon or fork yet, still preferring her fingers!), drink from her sippy cup, and seemingly understand what I’m asking of her … most of the time.

I love it when she points at things and asks dat? which I assume to be an abbreviation for ‘what’s that?’ because when I answer, she either mimics what I’ve said, or just thinks about it before pointing to the next object that’s caught her eye. She’s curious and she’s learning.

I love our conversations – babbling back and forth with an occasional word we both recognise – we have ba (Bear), eh (Bella), baw (ball) and of course bubba and mumma.

I love our playing and her giggles which turn to full belly laughs whenever the Tickle Bugs are involved. And I love it when she throws herself at me with everything she has for a cuddle.

But I miss my baby girl. Unless things change very quickly in my world, it’s very unlikely I’ll have another – and it passed way too quickly.

So, to all of the mummas out there who have the chance to stay home with their beautiful bubbas longer than 6 months: grab that opportunity with both arms and hold on tight.

It slips away before you can blink!

They do grow too fast, don’t they?

As the mother of a very lanky 10 year old I can do nothing but agree whole-heartedly. Enjoy the toddler stage! 🙂
