It’s just a number.

People say that all the time.

They say it about age.

They say it about weight.

They say it about height.

They say it about clothes size.

Test scores matter (sometimes!).

They say it about Bubba’s weight.

And her height.

How many pets do you own?

How many cars in your family?

How many people read your blog last month?

Okay, so maybe that last one was only a question I asked myself. But if there were no site visit stats, I would be left to wonder. And instead of wondering, I have the answer – right there in front of me in – in a pretty bar chart.

And the answer? 34 people less than last month.

Statisticians can manipulate numbers to tell any story they want to tell. If I was in PR I would not be focussing on the fact that we had 34 less visitors than last month. In fact, that number wouldn’t rate a mention.

What the focus would be is the fact that for the past three months in a row, I’ve had more than 7,500 visitors to my little blog. Each month! And it would be in big bold letters:

bumpyroadtobubba continues it’s success with it’s third consecutive month of over 7,500 visitors!

And how much better does that look and sound?

So thank you – to each and every one of those visitors.
