Fridge art

I know there are going to be many, many, many artworks of Bubba’s on the fridge in years to come. Some will be immediately recognisable, some will skew more to the abstract side of the art spectrum.

Last weekend, Bubba and I sat at her little table together to draw on a big piece of paper. Mumma drew a tree, some poppy flowers, a butterfly and a cat (inexplicably sideways and hovering above the tree -a cat balloon if you will?) along with a heart and the names of my three loves.

Bubba learnt about drawing swirls (this is a step along from dots – otherwise known as bashing the crayons so hard on the table that the tops eventually fall off – and straight lines).

Grandma even had a little turn at swirls with Bubba when she arrived for their park date. I think grandma might be saving her specialty (the cat/rabbit/dog depending on which way you’re looking at it) until Bubba is old enough to really appreciate it!

And while I’m sure this piece of paper will be replaced and forgotten in time, for the moment our masterpiece is enjoying pride of place on the fridge door.

A reminder of a lovely afternoon spent in the warmth of the winter sunshine, drawing with my Love Bug.

  1. Oh yes, there will be artworks galore but each & every one is beautiful and unique in their own way. They also tell an amazing story of your cherubs development. The challenge is which ones to keep & which to throw away. A tip is to always write the date on the back. And I recently read an article about a lady that photographs her daughters artworks so she can make a book out of them at some future date. Now wish I had of read that article about 5 yrs ago!

  2. awwwww…… what a great picture…. ah yes, artwork…. it is a joy to have….. wait till she draws her first picture of her family…. save it for it will bring you much joy and memories through the years. 🙂

Belinda’s suggestion of writing the date on the back is great. Tall person’s father still has some of his pictures on his workshop wall.
