Ouch!

The appearance of a first tooth (followed closely by the appearance of the second) and the will to crawl, if not quite matched by ability – makes for a busy bubba. Gross & fine motor skills improving. It’s a busy business this being a bubba!

Frustration at not being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound increasing! And that’s just me! Not really, I’ve got that whole tall buildings things sorted.

Bumps and bruises are going to be part of bubba’s life for the next little while, or, if she’s anything like her clumsy mumma, the next 40 years or so. But that doesn’t make them any easier to deal with. That thud when she hurts herself reverberates in my heart. My disappointment at myself for not getting to her in the nick of time to save her from that pain.

Today she was laying on her back holding something above her head. She was quite proudly turning it around when thud. I didn’t over-react but I figured it would hurt. And it did. Within half an hour she had a bump under her eye on her cheek bone and a bruise beginning to form.

ouch!

I know I can’t wrap her in cotton wool. I don’t want to, she needs to explore the world and get the bumps and bruises, but I really wish she could magically develop all of the wisdom she needs without having to go through any of the pain.

  1. I remember when my son fell and got a black eye right before a doctor appointment. Fortunately they were used to little ones with black eyes and knew it was normal.
