The proof is in the pudding … and the souffle!

I did it. It was a success. Everyone left with full tummies. They also left with take home packets of left over yummy goodness. And it was all vegetarian.

I’m exhausted. Too tired to write, so here are some photos instead.

My gorgeous little family.

The table.

Place cards.

Entree: roast sweet potato, sage, nutmeg & parmesan tart. I made the recipe up so am quite glad it worked.

Side dish 1: caramelised roasted truss tomatoes.

Side dish 2: rocket drizzled with basil infused olive oil & sea salt.

Main: twice baked gruyere souffle. Oh yeah. And I didn’t even make a spare one just in case. Lucky. Looks a little darker around the edges due to Instagram photo app. You know you want to dive right in. My sister said it was so good she’d marry it. If she weren’t already married that is.

Dessert #1: drunk berries (assorted summer berries which had been soaking in Cointreau) served with honeyed marscapone & my brother-in-law’s awesome shortbread.

Dessert # 2: my brother-in-law’s awesome shortbread again. This time drizzled (drowned?) in chocolate. Yep.

Dessert # 3 (what? sweet tooth? us? never!): grandma’s delicious Christmas pudding with custard. It’s a little hard to believe this was the first time she’s made it.

Also consumed: French champagne, gin & tonics & mineral water with elderflower cordial. And maybe some Christmas chocolate. Just a little.

DE-LIC-IOUS!

I couldn’t have done it without help from my Christmas Elves: my mum & my lovely friend Mel.

I’m a very grateful girl. And looking at all of that yummy food is making me a little hungry too.
