Let’s start at the very beginning

First up I want to say: WOW!!

Yesterday I had the most amazing blog traffic. More than five times the hits of my previous best day. I oscillated wildly between thinking the site statistics fairies were getting it wrong and believing that there really were a whole lot of new readers interested in our story. I settled on the latter.

I’ll go back and start at the very beginning … a very good place to start (yep, now you’re all Von Trapp kids humming along with Julie Andrews aren’t you?). I digress.

The reason I decided to blog about my journey was two-fold: I love to write; and in my researching becoming a mother of a donor bubba I found very little in the way of Australian personal stories. I found support groups online and forums, but I wanted more detail. I wanted a personal account. I wanted to go on this journey with someone before I went on it myself.

I read books – but they were American. I figured if I was searching for this, there were probably others out there searching for the same.

And so, bumpyroadtobubba was born.

Yesterday, I commented on this story. Someone responded to my comment. I mentioned my blog, and the rest is history (otherwise known as: the day of amazing blog stats). And all because of the reason I started my blog initially. Yay!

So, a huge thank you to everyone for stopping by. I really hope at least one reader is encouraged in their decision to become a parent by sharing my story of incredible happiness. One I need to share with more people.

I am one very lucky mumma.

    Hi MJ
I am the commenter from Mamamia yesterday and I read every post on your blog until 14 December last night, then finished off this morning! I really really loved reading the tale of your family and am inspired. Interestgly enough I also have a furry child, half border collie, who I adopted from the local dogs home 11 years ago and she is very much my family and best friend all in one! ( and even more bizarre, my childhood dog was named Bear…)
After reading your blog I am even more interesting in embarking on a similar journey. Will make an appointment with my GP soon to start initial investigations.
Thanks so much for sharing your story, and those beautiful images, Jo

    1. I got tears in my eyes reading this message Jo! I’m so glad you not only enjoyed my blog, but that it has encouraged you just a little further in your journey. Furry kids are divine, and if you do go down this path, yours will be such a support – I’ve been amazed how intuitive Bella and Bear have been, and how gorgeous they are with Bubba. I’d love to hear how your progress goes – if you ever wanted someone to talk to about this decision, I’d happily have a chat with you. Keep me posted & best of luck. x

Me too! I found your comment on MM yesterday, shame I missed it in January… I have two furry girls who I love to death. I am so inspired by everything you’ve done and been through. ANd so incredibly impressed. I’m now going to look into having a baby, I’d love a girl. I have lots of questions, can I email you? I’m in Sydney too and love reading everything you have written. I think this has given me the incentive that I need to sort my life out. A purpose. My email is Loumelc@hotmail.com Best wishes, Louise xx
