Bubba’s first birthday party was going to be a small celebration at home – cupcakes and a cuppa, maybe a glass of bubbles?

I’m not sure who we were kidding thinking that would actually happen? Mumma’s friends call her Martha Stewart, Bubba’s aunty is all about the styling, added extras from grandma and uncle Christopher – this was always going to be a little more than cupcakes and a cuppa.

As with the day Bubba was born, the sound track for the day included Beautiful Day (U2), Isn’t She Lovely & Happy Birthday (Stevie Wonder), Burn Your Name (Powderfinger), She’s the One (Robbie Williams) and a little bit of In Da Club (50 Cent). You weren’t expecting that last one, were you? We did our dancing early … by the end of the day we were all exhausted!

But what an absolutely wonderful day it was. We are very lucky to have so many people in our lives who love us.

The puppies are very glad it’s just us at home today. Being on the other side of the door isn’t what they’re used to.
