Reminiscing

Bubba and I had breakfast this morning with a friend who is pregnant. She’s due in the next month or so and has been told – going on her current measurements – that she’s likely to have a small bubba. Around 2.5-3kgs (or 6lb or a little under for our friends in other parts of the world).

Our Bubba was only 5lb11 when she was born so I offered to lend my friend the teeny clothes we had to go out and buy as soon as Bubba made her grand entrance to the world.

I came home, put my gorgeous 1 year old to bed, then took out the bag (well, one of the bags at least) of ‘she’s already grown out of these’ clothes.

What a powerful hit of memories came flooding back. This day last year we were night two at home. Bubba was absolutely tiny. She relied entirely on me. She couldn’t even hold her head up without her mumma.

I began to reminisce on the year that has passed. All of the amazing steps we’ve taken together. The independence she’s gained along the way.

I know I’m here to help teach her how to be on her own. But I hope there never comes a time when she doesn’t need her Mumma.

It’s amazing how fast they grow. I too today, was going through our daughters clothing (she just turned 19 months last week). We are putting away 12-18 month clothing and found a few small items – so tiny. She was 6lbs 13oz and we didn’t have any premie clothing since we didn’t expect her to arrive 4 weeks early.

  2. She’s so cute I want to lick her face! Sweet baby, sweet memories.

    Love and snuggles,
