Yesterday’s post evoked any number of comments, emails, facebook and text messages of support, love and shared experience. I appreciate each and every one of those messages.
One in particular, resonated loudly! The DogDaz crew sent me a quote (not sure of source, but if you’ve heard it and know, please comment and I’ll update):
“I can do anything, I can not do everything.”
As a mumma, I need to try to remember that. Every single day. I am giving my all to being the best me that I can be – in each moment of every day. And that is all I have to give.
Days that aren’t perfect have to be thrown in, because that’s just how life is. And anyway, this blog wouldn’t anywhere near so much fun if it were called smoothroadtobubba now, would it?
So, thanks to DogDaz for the support, the humour, and this very important reminder.
This is a good reminder for every tired mom out there. Best wishes.
So glad i could be some support. I always choose the road less taken, smooth isn’t my style. – Lorian of DogDaz
Exactly!!! 🙂
Your friends,
the collies and chuck 🙂
Great quote from DogDaz and a wonderful mantra from you, “Every single day. I am giving my all to being the best me that I can be – in each moment of every day. And that is all I have to give.”
My beautiful daughter arrived three months ago and I’ve only just come to terms with the fact that I can’t do everything. So now I keep my goals low and achievable, like shower before midday and I don’t know why I feel like everything is ok if I’ve showered before midday. I just found your blog and I love it, what an amazing journey you are on, motherhood is hard enough with a partner, I have such respect for single mothers.
There is definitely something to be said for showering before midday with a newborn. These days I need to have showered, washed, dried & straightened my hair and applied my makeup before Bubba wakes up or something has to go. Those days my hair usually ends up in a ponytail, and that’s okay! Congratulations on the arrival of your precious bundle. 14 months in I am still in awe and wonder every day that I managed to create suc a perfect being. Thanks for your feedback on my blog – I feel very lucky to be able to share my journey!
