Holding hands

Teaching Bubba to walk, there is obviously going to be a lot of hand holding. Babies hold onto their family from the get go, their tiny little hand wrapping around one grown up finger at the start, and growing from there.

Lately, though, I’ve noticed Bubba reaching for my hand at other times – not only when we’re walking together, or playing at the park.

Sometimes, now, she’ll just reach out and hold my hand if we’re sitting reading a story, or just hanging out together at home.

And do you know what? That makes my heart happy. Because she’s holding onto my hand now not for survival, or a newborn instinct, but because she is seeking me out to hold me close.

hands (and a little fur!)

That’s love, that is.
