Walking Bubba to daycare she spotted the moon in the morning sky and pointed at it.
Ball? she asked. Because everything round is a ball.
I explained that it was the moon, and that even though we usually talk about the moon at night (Guess How Much I Love You), sometimes the moon stays in the sky to say good morning and not just good night.
From her bundled up spot snuggled in to me in the baby carrier, she kept smiling up at me and pointing. Moo? she finally asked.
Yes Bubba, Moo it is.
And I love you right up to it, and back!

Oh gosh that is one of our favorite stories and even to this day, I still say to Peanut (18) when she says ‘I love you,’ I say ‘I love you to the mooooooooon and back.’ K8 (at 23) still has a poster of the rabbits in her room.
I started reading it to Bubba just before sleep time when I was 5 months pregnant, but the first time I cried reading it to her was in hospital when she was born. I hope it holds a special place for her still when she’s Peanut and K8’s ages!
