An (extra)ordinary day

Where oh where is the pause button? I can’t keep up!

This was even more obvious to me last Friday when it didn’t seem possible that it had only be four days since I spent a full day with Bubba. So many changes in such a small space of time. On Friday her day care lady left for holidays so I got a bonus day with my girl. And I’m so glad I did because I seem to have missed a few things this week!

Like, until Friday I’ve had to hold her hand when walking down our three internal stairs. She’s been going up for ages on her own, and if she sits down at each stair she can go down. But that morning? Oh no, she just wandered down them on her own as if she’d always been doing it.

In one of the photos in her current favourite ‘book‘ the dog is holding his paw up as if to high five (which Bella and Beary do). As soon as she turned to that page, Bubba said high five and put her hand up to me.

She’s also added more words and sounds to her vocabulary. She is now making the noises of a lot of animals, but her favourite thing seems to be roaring like a lion. I woke up one morning recently to the sound of roar roar ROAR (giggle) coming through the baby monitor.

She is whispering. It’s hilarious, because it’s nonsensical toddler gibberish but she lowers her voice and gets really close then lets fly. Too cute by half.

My urging for her to be ‘gentle Bubba‘ seems to have sunk in (after a year or so!) and just this morning she got a little over excited ‘feeding’ me her bottle and she hit me a little hard in the face with the bottle. Before I could say a thing she said ow and patted my cheek ever so gently and then guess what she did?

She leaned over to kiss my cheek. Shut. The. Door. Insanely ridiculously unbelievably cute.

Oh, and while I’m (kind of) on the subject of imagination, that seems to have totally taken off. There’s lots of pretending, feeding her loves (mumma, Bella, Beary and her teddies), chatting to teddies, telling stories. It’s awesome to be a part of.

lions need bottles too mumma!

I *think* they’re the only changes this week, but seriously how’s a mumma supposed to keep up? Thank dog I write this blog – I can’t imagine trying to just remember all of this!

Every ordinary day is really quite extraordinary.

  1. And it’s so special you have a place to store those memories!

  2. I agree. What a perfect way to “remember” each milestone, complete with pictures. Then you can move on to the more, new, and different memories that come each day.
