Dear Bubba

Although there will be so many times in your life I’ll tell you this, for a variety of reasons, I wanted to tell you how proud I am of the sweet little girl you are growing into.

I told you yesterday when we were driving in the car and you were patting your pussy cat ever so gently.

I tell you when you share your toys and food with other people and with ani-pals too.

I think it when we are out shopping, or at the farmers’ market and you help me by handing the money over and always have a smile, a wave, and sometimes even blow a kiss to the people we are buying our groceries from.

I think it as I watch other people’s faces light up as they delight in the sweet person you are.

I think it when you want to stop and chat with every ani-pal we pass when we’re out walking or shopping. It may make our journey a little longer, but to watch the delight on your face when you spot a dog sitting at a cafe, then the look of hope as you look from me to them, just makes my heart happy.

After checking with the dog’s family, I’m pretty sure the pats and loves and your special little royal wave buh-bye and blown kiss makes puppy hearts happy too. I don’t think Patches the Jack Russell on Sunday, or the German Shepherd puppy we met yesterday, could quite believe their luck. Your loves sure made their tails wag! And if the Beagle Freedom Project puppies knew you were patting their photos and kissing them on my computer screen, their tails would wag too.

I love that you are a happy, kind, gentle, caring and loving Bubba. And I love that you are my Bubba.

And I’m so proud of you that I could burst.

I love you all the way to the moon … and back!
