I’d like to think we have jetted off for a fabulous holiday with sun, sand and surf and that some gorgeous local boy is teaching me to surf. Or just bringing me a tropical cocktail to my hammock under a tree, a few steps from gorgeous azure water to dip our toes in.
Alas, that’s not the wave I’m referring to. Today I’m talking about riding the Toddler Wave. The wave that goes from apocalyptic tantrum one evening, to going to bed late the following evening mostly because you’re having so much fun jumping and collapsing in giggling heaps on mumma’s unmade bed (all four of us that was!) that time just gets away from you.
I probably shouldn’t be making such a huge deal of Bubba’s first total melt-down tantrum. If feedback from various mummas about the place is anything to go by – at 21 months, she’s quite late to the first one. Of that I’m glad, and I really hope they are very few and far between.
In their place, what I hope for is my divine creature to spend more time laughing, giggling, playing and giving loves to me, Bella and Beary. Like she did last night. She went to bed a little late because we were too busy enjoying each other’s company. Even once she’d had her bottle and cuddles on my bed, she and her furry BFFs kept playing.
Love. My. Kids!

I love riding this wave! So much fun with the kids!
It is a wave. Sometimes it takes your breath away, sometimes you see it coming, sometimes it’s knocks you over without a moment’s hesitation. That’s why my favorite phrase is “hang in there” because it’s not always a euphemism–sometimes completely accurate. Hang onto your lovelies, hang onto your wine, hang onto your sanity, hang onto your hats–parenthood is not for the faint of heart!
Definitely not. Probably not for those who don’t enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day either 😉
Beautiful family!
Thanks, I’m such a lucky mumma – and I know it 🙂
