Usually when we have custard Bubba (who has as little sugar as I can manage in her diet) has a spoon full of custard mixed in with natural Greek yoghurt. So hers is more essence of custard.
A couple of nights ago I made vanilla bean custard. But this time I didn’t dilute Bubba’s (three dessert spoons) serving.
And it was good.
Lick your lips and your plate, ask for more kind of good.
Forget your manners and that you don’t usually make that much mess when you eat any more kind of good.
Get it all over your face kind of yummy.

I did – I cook as much of our food from scratch (and generally after a trip to the farmers market) as I can!
Would it be possible to maybe get the recipe? It really sounds delicious.
Sure, I got it with a Christmas pudding recipe somewhere, some time ago (original recipe has the option to add a little brandy right at the end – not when sharing it with Bubba obviously)!
vanilla bean custard ingredients: 1 cup milk, 1 cup thick cream, 2 vanilla beans (or you can use vanilla bean paste), 50gm caster sugar, 6 egg yolks, 2 teaspoons of cornflour. method: place milk & cream in a saucepan; split the vanilla beans, scrape seeds; add the seeds & beans (or paste) to pan, bring to boil then remove from heat and set aside for 10 minutes to infuse; place sugar, egg yolks & cornflour in a bowl and whisk until pale & creamy; add to milk mixture & stir over low heat until thickened; then strain custard, discarding vanilla beans. {cover with plastic wrap if not using immediately to avoid it forming a ‘skin’} 🙂
