Under the lemon tree

When I dropped Bubba at day care yesterday, she took me into the back garden. There’s a big lemon tree in the corner of the garden, surrounded by a little stone wall. Bubba led me to the tree and sat down on the wall.

When I didn’t sit straight down, she stood up and pulled my knees forward – forcing me to sit! Once we were sitting side by side, she pointed at the fence. Cat she said. I looked but couldn’t see any feline friends.

Her day care lady who was watching from nearby explained that there are two neighbourhood cats who often walk along the fence across from the lemon tree, and that Bubba likes to sit under the tree and call out with delight when they appear.

There were no cats that morning, but Bubba seemed content to sit with me under the lemon tree, holding my hand and occasionally giving it a kiss. Lemons never smelt so good.

Man alive that kid is awesome!

And she’s mine – I’m such a lucky duck mumma!
