On being an inspiring woman

As most of you know, there have been things keeping this mumma up most nights. Work decisions, home decisions, and just the general stress of carrying the responsibility for all four of our lives on my shoulders and trying not to drop anything when the road gets bumpy.

This week two great things happened within 24 hours of each other.

I accepted a fabulous new role working with someone I’ve worked with previously in my career. We’ll be working with a global company in a new and rapidly growing area, so there are exciting times ahead.

The role I’m leaving is a contract role, and although I knew my time here was finite, it hasn’t meant I gave it any less than I would give any other role. I’ve been lucky to work with people I’ve looked forward to seeing each day. It seems that was reiterated because, in this company of a few thousand people, I was one of 30-something people nominated as an Inspiring Woman this week. Here’s an except from my nomination:

“I find her to be a very inspiring woman … she has made time to mentor and if you ever need help or have a question her door is always open … inspires me that she is a single mum, a hard worker and treats everyone with the same respect … I think as a mother, colleague, friend and mentor she is a VERY inspiring woman and we are very lucky to have her.”

It is so great that people took time out of their day to write that down. I was also humbled {and blown away} by the response when I noted my nomination on Facebook. Apparently I’ve inspired any number of people. Aw, shucks! *blushes*

Of course, Bubba is my inspiration {and the meaning in my life … sorry – I couldn’t resist} and I hope that in time I am an inspiration to her. Then I’ll feel like I’ve achieved my goal.

an inspiring woman, apparently

In the meantime, I am quite chuffed with this week’s achievements.

GO TEAM. You rock. Seriously. And all of that is 100% completely deserved. 🙂 xo

  2. You have every right to be chuffed (I have never used that word)! Congratulations. I’m happy for you and not a bit surprised. Valentine hugs to all of you – fuzzy and smooth.

    1. I did wonder about using it, it’s such an English word – even though I’m an Aussie 🙂 thanks x

  3. First & most important – you are an inspiring woman & a very worthy recipient. Secondly, thank you for sharing the link to the Chicago clip. Nearly choked on my coconutty granola crunch (thanks Sarah Wilson for the recipe) watching it. So loved that era of music (yep, showing everyone of my 44 yrs) – no cheesy porn gyration required, just a gazillion keyboard players & a good old lounge chair, face pulling and someone moonlighting as Madonna from her “Holiday” time. Love It. Love you! xo

    1. Thanks lovely lady (and your husband who also commented!) xox
