Aunties are great for too many reasons to list. As Bubba grows she will learn for herself all the usual reasons, and she will also have special reasons of her own.

She’s very spoilt in that she only has one aunty (she has ‘aunties’ too of course, but only one is a blood relative). Knowing how awesome my sister is, I know that Bubba’s got the best aunty that she could ever hope for.

Yesterday was my sister’s birthday. So I made her a birthday cake. A Shaun the Sheep birthday cake. As you do for your little sister. Who is 36!

Bubba discovered over Christmas and was reminded yesterday that one reason aunties are so great is that they let you help them open their birthday presents.

Then they let you help them blow out the candles. {In years to come Love Bug is not going to be impressed that I published the second photo below, but it shows the effort and determination she had to get that candle blown out! And I think it’s funny.}

Then they let you help them cut the cake – but only if your hand is on theirs and not on the knife.

And, if family celebrations at your house are anything like they are at ours, there’s usually at least one furry family member hovering under the table willing crumbs to the floor.
