I’m not sure if I can do justice to the action I’m about to share with you, but I’ll try.

Last night when I put Love Bug to bed, we went through the usual routine of people we love and people who love us, Bella and Beary sidling up to the cot for pats. Then coming back for more.

Once the puppies had left the room, with the side of Bubba’s cot lowered, I lent over to give her kisses and cuddles. More kiss? Sure, I’ll take as many as you want to give me.

More cuggle? she asked with her arms held outstretched as I stood for what I thought would be the final time. As I leaned in to her, she stopped me by putting her hands on my cheeks. No mumma, dis way. With that she tilted my head to the side and pulled me in to her, so that instead of my face being buried into her shoulder, we were cheek to cheek but facing the same direction and her arms were wrapped around me, with one of her hands patting my cheek.

No words.

Absolutely. No. Words.

My heart threatened to leap out of my chest, and just when I thought it couldn’t possibly be more amazing, she made contented little sighing sounds and said love you mumma. The world could have ended in that moment and I would have known no greater happiness.

How do I even begin to acknowledge what a phenomenal experience that was? And what an incredibly lucky mumma I am? And how utterly completely and incredibly in love I am with this divine little creature? And how for those few moments, that one gesture made all the bumps in the road disappear.

I’ve said it before, and I will no doubt say it again. She is ri-donc-u-lous.
