What were you doing at 4am?

Don’t read this if you are squeamish. Maybe just glance at the photos and come back tomorrow.

Still with me? Okay, but I did warn you.

I woke up yesterday morning a bit after three. Not because of insomnia, but because I heard Bubba coughing. I turned over to go back to sleep, but something made me go and check on her. And I’m so glad I did.

She was face down in a river of her own vomit. It was everywhere. And it was absolutely awful. It was also Monday morning. Day 5 of my new job and very {very} early on my first day in the office with my new boss.

4am 1 4am 2

Almost two hours later I had changed two sets of pyjamas, had two showers {one with Bubba and a second just for me when I finally collapsed into bed only to realise there was vomit in my hair}, changed a set of sheets, and done a load of washing. By which stage it was almost 5am.

Bubba has never slept in my bed. She has never wanted to sleep in my bed, but at 5am she wanted nothing more. So I tucked her in with a heat bag to help warm her up, with Bella and Beary at her feet for added warmth.

When I crawled in to bed beside her, I found it hard to sleep. I worried about her and if she was okay. But I also couldn’t stop thinking about how nice it was to have her little warm body tucked safely beside me. She fell asleep holding my hand and over the next hour her wriggly little body found its way to me and she tucked her arms or legs around mine, and reached out to touch my face in her sleep.

As exhausted as I was, and as wrecked as I felt, I couldn’t help but smile to myself in the pre dawn light.

7am

Despite looking this cute at 7am, she was sick again when she got to daycare, so grandma took her to the doctor. A tummy bug means she gets to spend a couple of days with grandma while mumma goes to work. Thank heavens for grandma!

I love those moments, in the wee hours of the morning, when the whole world is still and quiet and it seems you and your bub are the only two people on earth.

        Ha ha, yes that’s true.

  2. Tummy bug. Ugh. Thank God for Grandma. Hope she’s better soon, and that you and Grandma can stay healthy through it.

    1. Me too – this mumma has no time for getting sick!

I haphazardly tagged you. Stop by if you want to play. http://bongodogblog.com/2013/03/19/haphazardly-tagged/

    1. We love a game of tag! We’ll get mumma to catch up with things on the weekend and we’ll play then. She’s got this new job thing and she’s been super tired, we’ve had to give her {and our sick Bubba} lots of extra loves!

I hope she is soon better!

    1. Thanks, she has spent two days with grandma so she’s been spoilt and got lots of extra love!

Poor bubba and poor you! xx

    1. Poor everyone. No-one needed that {although I think just quietly that all three of my kids quite enjoyed being snuggled up on mumma’s bed together}! x
