This is Benson. Benson has been haunting my dreams {day and night} since the notice came up on my Facebook feed that he had been surrendered at the age of 8.
Look. At. That. Face.
Unfortunately the shelter Benson is in is a kill shelter, so today is his last day if he’s not adopted or taken in by a rescue group. I have called the shelter, but short of adopting him, I can’t pay to buy him a stay for another week. I’ve contacted some rescues and I know people are doing everything they can.
Benson, as with all of his friends on the urgent list this week, is in Sydney. If someone needs him transported I am happy to help with that on Friday.
There are thousands of dogs just like Benson, facing the death penalty through no fault of their own. I know I’m preaching to the converted with you guys, but please share this post. Share the posts of any rescue organisations you follow on social media. You might not have room in your home for another 4-legged love, but I am sure you have room in your heart to spend 2 seconds clicking on share or retweet in the hope that someone, somewhere falls in love with one of these precious pals.
I saw a photo during the week of a shelter pet with the words ‘don’t like, share’ … so true! If you have time to like the photo, you have time to share it. I’m sure everyone I’m social media pals with has thought to themselves at least once not another dog but I know that sharing all of those dogs has helped at least one of them! Once you share them, if they find the person they’re supposed to be with, that person will know.
If anyone I know wants Benson in their family, I’m putting my hand up to be his Fairy DOG Mother. Because if I could … you know I would. He’s just one of those dogs.
Adopt, don’t shop.
{Tasty Tuesday will return next week; although there is a strong possibility it will be interrupted occasionally for fuzzy friends in need.}
Breaks my heart. Wish I could fly over and get him.
Ohhhh, he’s such a gorgeous guy. I sure hope he got that last minute reprieve.
tweeted and everything crossed for him. How anyone can throw away and pet I do not understand but to do it to a senior? Please will you keep us updated?! Can we put together a fund to help a rescue afford to rescue him?
He got a save by a rescue organisation last night … I’ve offered to help them out. Have just tearfully made my way through the list of his other shelter pals who are out of time in a few hours. 😦 I wish I could save them all. I wish people would be more responsible.
