I don’t really like the shower mumma

One of the great things about our new home is how close it is to Bubba’s daycare.

One of the not great things about walking home from daycare in the pouring rain yesterday was juggling both of our bags & the umbrella without Bubba getting wet. Needless to say, mumma ended up drenched!

Bubba has (until we moved) always bathed in the laundry tub. It was a good height for me, a good size for her – and our old bath was inaccessible for a mumma holding a slippery little bubba due to an ill-placed sliding door! Since the move, she has bathed in her own bathroom in her special Bubba sized bath (about 2/3 the size of a normal bath).

When we arrived home and I was drenched, I thought it might be a good night for Bubba to try the shower…

While curious at first, she is definitely not a fan! Complete with quivering bottom lip, deep frown and pulling her body away from the water flow – all the while holding as tightly as she could to me. If she was a baby koala, she would have crawled around her mumma and clung onto my back where the water couldn’t get her I’m sure.

It was much better when I sat on the floor of the shower with her in my lap. That way she could wrap herself around me and cling on, but still enjoy the water running down her back.

I love these first time adventures. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the look on her face the moment we stepped under the shower spray. Her look said it all: I don’t really like the shower mumma.

Back to the Bubba bath tomorrow night!

I could just imagine Bubba crawling on you like a baby koala. Great descriptions.

  2. Awww that is too cute. We second Bongo– love the description of her clinging to you!! Sounds like she will be happy to have the bath back tomorrow 🙂
