Another life lesson about knickers

It would seem our life’s lessons so far seem to revolve around knickers! Today’s was no different.

We were in a store and I was looking at knickers. I’m all about wearing matching sets of underwear, always have been. I was telling Bubba this today and also suggesting she do as Coco Chanel said: once you find something that suits/fits, buy it in every colour. Or buy two. Something like that. It’s a good life lesson either way!

I’m also taking the opportunity to share some Sunday observations about Bubba – there seem to be so many changes every day that if I don’t write them down I may miss them.

There were a number of times this weekend when I thought my heart may actually explode. I know she’s mine so I’m predisposed to thinking that she is the most divine being on earth, but some days Bubba’s gorgeousness really knocks the wind out of me.

She is standing on her tippy toes. She’s standing a lot. She’s walking a lot too – if you hold both of her hands.

Bubba has always been musical. As soon as there’s a vague beat somewhere, she’s moving. While she was in her high chair having lunch today, I looked up at her and she was bopping along to the music while she smeared humus all over every surface and her person, including behind her ears ate. I hope this is something that grows as she does. This afternoon she was singing along as she danced. So cute.

We were walking through the market and she was in the baby satchel. She was running her fingers up and down my arms and she pulled my hand to hers and held it.

Bubba is having separation anxiety. Maybe this is because of the move, or maybe she’s just going to start having it – as most toddlers do. Hang on, toddler? Who has a toddler? Surely I still have a bubba? Anyway, whatever it is, and no matter how busy I am, when she finds her way to me and stands with her arms up, or just clings to my leg, I can’t resist picking her up and cuddling her.

When I’m lifting her out of her car seat or the bath, I always say ‘arms up buttercup’. In the car she puts her arms up. In the bath she usually just sits there and waits for me to pick her up. Tonight – for the first time ever – when it was time to get out of the bath, she stood up and put her arms up for me to wrap her in her towel and lift her out.

I finally got around to retaking Bubba’s 13 photos. On my first attempt, the fabric I cut the 13 from was too pale and didn’t stand out enough against her onesie. Then moving house got in the way of me redoing them, but this morning we did it – better late than never. I can see a little girl in this photo. Such a mix of emotions when I realised that.

Then there’s this one.

My heart may yet explode.

OMG love love love the 13 pic!! She’s cute every time I see her photos, but she’s EVEN cuter than normal in this photo – love that smile and those cheeks! Takes me back to when Daisy was a baby and it was all about her…. no siblings to spoil the moment…. much harder now with three to have that one on one time…. x
