4-legged family

I am so grateful my dogs chose me. Yep, you read that right. I’m convinced our dogs choose us.

Like Bella, for instance, who I was not looking for. I was looking for a border collie to rescue, and not necessarily a puppy. But then I saw her cute puppy face on a rescue site. I had to find a new house and move before we could be together – and she waited for me.

Beary I wasn’t really looking for either, but he still found me. He was meant to be Bella’s little brother and we were meant to be together.

Each and every day I am so glad they wanted me to be their 2-legged family, and love the way they care for the littlest (but most important!) member of our pack – our Bubba.

Spend some time giving them extra love and saying thank you to your 4-legged family for loving you like they do, so unconditionally, and for being truly accepting of who you are. I make sure to thank mine as often as I can. If you can give your pets half of the love and adoration they give you, they’ll be very loved-up pups.

And if you’re thinking about a new addition, please consider adoption.

I did – and look how well that turned out.

I don’t know where this photo came from originally –
I saw it on a friend’s Facebook page yesterday and just loved it!

After seeing some of the groups that pass themselves off as rescues, I can see why some people would hesitate to adopt. But there are MANY more reputable rescues out there. Personally, I would rather adopt an adult dog that has had the benefit of training, socialization and love from a rescue than buy from a breeder. With even the best breeders, you still have a child to train. and with the not so good breeders, you could have a problem.

  2. There are so many out there that just are waiting for that special person to come along and rescue them….adoption is the only way to go!

You are absolutely right. When I saw the tall person I chose him straight away! 🙂
