Taunted by images of my boobs

No, this is not some sob story about leaked photos that I didn’t know were being taken (yeah, right)! I’m not a famous starlet trying to make a come back, so how could it be? Oh, and if some dodgy search lead you here, look away because they’re not those kinds of images.

They’re ultrasound and mammogram images. Images taken on Friday afternoon that I had to wait until Tuesday morning to find out the results of. That’s a loooooooong time in waiting years (waiting years are like the opposite of dog years!). I think I may have aged considerably in those few days. Because I’m not very good at waiting.

Those images of my boobs taunted me all weekend. I put them in varying locations so I didn’t have to think about them, and yet, no matter where they were they were on my mind.

But this isn’t a sob story at all. As it turns out, it’s a huge sigh of relief story. And although the person doing the ultrasound uttered the words suspicious and I’m surprised you even found it (I know, right?!) it turns out – approximately 87 hours later – that it’s not so suspicious at all, and not so surprising I found it because I check for lumps all the time. Like every girl should learn to do and do without even thinking about it. It’s a benign lump that will be checked on again in a couple of months.

We have no history of cancer in our family. And for that I am eternally grateful.

People often ask me what I looked for in the donor daddy for Bubba and after my response of cute, 6’3″, funny & independently wealthy fire fighter who just does that as a day job because he wants to give something back (oh no, you’re right – that’s my response when asked what I’m looking for in a husband), I say that I chose someone with no cancer or heart disease in their family and similar natural colouring to me.

I figure I can manage the rest. I’m doing okay so far.

Some people aren’t so lucky and right now one of my very dear friends (and his gorgeous wife) are on the other side of the world to me fighting the fight of their lives. I think about them every day and send as many thoughts of health and love to them as I can. I wish I could afford to hop on a plane to deliver that love personally. x

I know what you mean about waiting. Jen is NOT a very patient person in cases like that. I’m sad to hear of your friends; I would be feeling pretty powerless right about now.
