Know when to hold ’em

New Year’s Day. Plans. Visit friends. Hang out for the afternoon with our wonderful friends, some of whom live interstate and we only see once or twice each year. Something I’m really looking forward to.

Except, sometimes when you’re a mumma, you just have to know when your Bubba needs you to stay home and just be held. Bubba went to bed late the night she spent away from me (8:30pm – the little NYE party animal) so she was tired.

She’s also getting her two-year old molars. Well, she seems to be getting them. And by them I mean one. It just feels to all of us like four.

Her pain is palpable. Her hand has been permanently in her mouth and she’s giving Beary a run for his money in the drool department. We were in the hardware store this morning (where else would a couple of girls be on the first day of a new year?) and she sat on the floor and put her hand in her mouth. Ouch mumma. Poor little love.

not even the num num helped

So we apologised to our friends that we wouldn’t see them, and we stayed at home. We spent a lot of time on the couch, having cuggles, patting our fuzzy loves and reading stories.

Together. Because that’s where we needed to be.

  1. Poor Bubba! Molars are no fun.

Poor Bubba and mom! When my daughter was teething, I would give her small chunks of frozen bagels. The coolness soothed her gums and gnawing on a bagel was good too. She is now 21 and still loves her bagels.
I have been reading your blog forever and have finally decided to stop lurking around, follow your blog, and even comment sometimes.
Happy New Year to all (including Beary and Bella of course).

    1. I will try that tip, thanks. I’ve tried other frozen things but she’s not overly keen. Bagels are good and chewy too šŸ™‚ Thanks for coming out of the shadows!

    1. Thank you – and congratulations on your award. That’s amazing (although not surprising)! x

  4. Bubba, you have the best mummy ever! I sure hope those toofers come in really soon.

    1. Thanks Sage, we’re going to keep her! Bubba, Bella and Beary xx
