This post is issued with a tissue warning.
It is with a very heavy heart and a fresh batch of tears that I share this news with you.
SO many of you have shared the story of Cilla and Jessie, lots of people wrote, called, shared, retweeted and generally wanted to offer help to my lovely friend and these two beautiful border collies who lost their mumma to cancer.
Tragically, my friend faced yet another heartbreak yesterday when Cilla’s health went downhill in a number of hours. She was freed from this world to run with her mumma once more late yesterday afternoon, 7 weeks to the day since her mumma died. She was being held tight and kissed repeatedly when she went.
Cilla had pancreatitis and tumours in her spleen and liver. I can’t help but think she probably had a broken heart too.
I’m sure my friend Jodie won’t mind me sharing this with you – her Facebook notice last night. RIP beautiful puppy, a wonderful 13 years of life lived & loved, you were PAW-some! Love you my furry sister xoxo
In our tearful chats yesterday, Jodie assures me that Jessie is the stronger one and the one who will adapt {eventually} and that it’s fitting that Cilla gets to have some alone time with her mumma for now.
Thank you all for your kind words and offers to help. I don’t know what the plan will be for Jessie moving forward, but I will definitely keep you all posted.
Lots and lots of love to my gorgeous friend and huge cuggles to Jessie. Please keep them in your thoughts and send them all the virtual cuddles you can.
How heartbreakingly sad.
I held my puppy a little bit tighter last night reading this. RIP Cilla. Hugs to Jodie and to Jessie xxx
I did a whole lot of crying into Bella & Beary’s fur too. xx
Awe… so sorry to hear this. Very very sad, but she had a full life and now can move along to be with her forever Mumma. Thanks for the update and good luck. If you need any more support for Jessie please keep us posted and we’ll do our best! ❤
I am so sorry to hear that! Sending massive cuddles!!!! Please do keep us informed about Jessie!
Thanks for the cuddles. Will definitely keep you posted. xx
Oh that is too bad. 😦
I’m so sad to hear this news, but I know Cilla must be happy to be with her mum once again. Please do keep us updated on Jessie and if she still needs a home. What beautiful girls – sending my love and hugs to the whole family and an extra big one for Jessie xxoo
