Not quite the answer I was expecting

Bubba has learned her surname. When you ask her name, she says it in full. It’s so freaking cute. I’d share the video but, well, I can’t so you’ll just have to imagine it.

Of course, now when I ask her other people’s names, they all have a surname. Ours! Sometimes she says Mumma and our surname, but she’s also used my name. Grandma, Aunty and Uncle {whose surname is not, in fact, ours!}, Grandpa, Bella, Beary and Barker. Easter Rabbits, Cat, Apollo.

All of us. All with a surname.

I am always telling Bubba she’s beautiful. Sadly she usually says not me so I thought maybe she doesn’t fully understand what beautiful is, but tonight she surprised me.

I was carrying her and I asked who the most beautiful girl in the world is. She answered her name. In full. Yay!

Because I loved hearing it so much, I asked her again just before I put her to bed. She didn’t answer straight away, so I posed the question to Beary who was laying on the bed with us. Who do you think the most beautiful girl is Beary?

He thinks Bella mumma!

As if that was the most obvious answer in the whole wide world. Even if it was not quite the answer I was expecting!

Can you imagine if we ALL had the same surname? Ha! Poppy is learning so much at the moment – her mumma is an amazing teacher.

Well not what you were expecting, but what a leap of rational thought there! Impressive!

    1. She’s said some things this week which have really blown me away! Like last night I was reading her a story and asked her what one of the drawings was called. Her response: I don’t think I can remember mumma. Who is this little person? 🙂
