When she was a toddler, my Little Sister had a book about a teddy bear learning to dress himself. I can still remember the illustrations, although I can’t remember the exact title of the book.
Lately Bubba has shown interest in undressing herself, but just the odd piece of clothing here and there. Like all developmental stages, I’m letting her indicate to me when she’s ready. I’m in the don’t rush it camp – it will all happen eventually, and we’ll have a smoother transition through each developmental stage if we’re doing it to timeframe, not mine.
The other morning she took her t-shirt off like a boy does. Well, like I’ve only ever seen boys do. It’s definitely not the way I take mine off {from the back over to the front of your head}. Maybe that’s a genetic thing from the other side?
Last night though, she asked if she could put her pyjamas on. Sure you can Bubba! With me helping to put them over her head, she did the rest: spencer, pyjama top, socks and pyjama pants. I was so proud. The look on her face was priceless. No photos because I was busy being in the moment with her.
Here she is this morning trying to figure out how to get her other arm out of the sleeve. She managed the left arm straight away, but the right arm seemed to want to go out the top, not the bottom.
Luckily she was a little too sleepy to want to dress herself fully. I’m going to have to set the alarm for early o’clock for that to happen and us to get out of the house!
Great job Bubba! Keep up the ‘in her time’ parentlng – it really does work for all. You are always so inspiring. This is for you – http://dogdaz.com/2013/07/18/7-18-13-thankful-thursday-very-inspiring-blogger-award/
Aw, thank you! Your vote of confidence in my parenting means a lot. So does my nomination! x
My pleasure. It is great to watch you doing your thing with her. Makes me feel closer to my 19 year old baby who will be overseas for 10 months starting in 2 weeks. Boo Hoo! Big Mommy tears.
No. That’s not allowed. I’ve already startted telling Bubba that when she goes off adventuring around the world it’s the rule that her mumma goes too 😉
That’s the way to go!
Thanks 🙂 x
Way to go Bubba! xx
