Boxed in and looking for the silver lining

It’s started. The wall of boxes.

Although only 3 of them actually have anything in them. But I did manage to also list and sell some of Love Bug’s shoes she’s grown out of last night, so I’d say that’s a successful first night of packing. If only there weren’t 20 more of those nights ahead of me. *frown*

One of the icky things about moving house is the boxes. Once full, where do you put them so you’re not tripping over them. In my last few houses there’s been a room which has just become the ‘box room’ for the few weeks before we moved. There’s not such a space in this house. So we may end up with the ‘hall of boxes’. There’s no hiding from that hall wall though and for the next three weeks I’ll feel like everything is in limbo.

{Yes, I do have colour coordinated box labels for each room. What OCD?}

Among all of that though, I’m trying to keep my eyes on the silver lining. Next weekend, Love Bug and I will continue our tradition and go to the Christmas tree farm to select our tree. It will be delivered to our new home and although we won’t have it for many days before Christmas, it will be a lovely welcome and we’ll get to enjoy it well into January.

And for the first time in ages, we’ll have a garden that all three dogs in our family can play in. We’re so looking forward to Barker visiting!

So the glass half full. It’s just a shame 98% of the boxes are still empty.

  1. The boxes will fill up soon enough. It’s like the story of the tortoise and the hare…..

    I always find that so much stuff can’t be packed just yet. You need to use it, wear it etc. The last 5 days before the move is the packing frenzy stage.

    1. That’s enough from you young lady!!
