Tasty Tuesday {bye bye winter!}

Although it’s going to still be cool and raining this week, we bid Winter farewell and started Spring with a couple of gorgeous sunny days in Sydney.

Make hay while the sun shines, they say. Make ice blocks while the fruit is abundant and cheap, I say. Same same.

Who doesn’t love an ice treat on a warm day? These are chock full of healthy stuff, with none of the nasties – but oh, so good. And no ice cream maker required.

Fruity & Jaffa blocks

For the fruity blocks
1 punnet of strawberries {these are so tasty and super cheap at the farmers’ market right now}, diced
1 peach, diced
1/2 ripe banana, sliced
1 tablespoon Maca powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 cup plain greek yoghurt {optional}

Throw it all in a blender and zhoosh it until it’s creamy smooth. Taste it before you pour it into your ice cream moulds because now is the time to decide you’d like the flavour altered slightly. A little tip: if you want it creamier, addition of more super ripe banana will achieve that. Freeze until your tastebuds tell you they’re ready!

For the Jaffa blocks
5 mandarins {or 3 oranges}, peeled and seeded
2 ripe bananas {medium-sized}, sliced
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon rice malt syrup

As with the fruity ones, throw it all ingredients in a blender and zhoosh it until it’s creamy smooth, then pour it in your moulds. Pop in the freezer and enjoy when the mood takes you.

Which is all the time for this mumma. I love ice cream!
